January Happenings

There's not much to write about in this post, but just thought I'd share some pictures.  Trying to stay as "up to date" as possible so that there's no catching up when we get to write a blog post about a little baby girl :)

Speaking of which, last blog post I mentioned that I had an "ultrasound tomorrow".  That was at 32 weeks, 6 days.  So here's the most up to date shot of little Lorelei.
I don't know if we'll get to see her again.  The Gestational Diabetes doctor didn't mention needing to come back for another one since everything has looked so good.
And I'm doubtful that we will do anymore at the regular family doctors office each week.  Even though they have the capabilities and we like to have it done earlier in the pregnancy, last time when we tried to do it with Jimmie this far along, the baby is so big in proportion to what the screen can fit, you can't see very much at a time.
She did NOT want to move for this one.  She had been sleeping with her arms over her face and the nurse had to kind of jiggle her around to check everything out.  She was not very happy and extremely pouty after that.  Can't say I blame her.

I have no idea what this picture is from.  But it pretty much sums up this kids behavior for at least the last month.  ABSOLUTELY. INSANE.
Today he got SO crazy that he actually gave me a terrible bloody nose that took an hour and a half to stop the bleeding.  Thanks, bud.  This was after he threw my bowl of oatmeal across the room,  threw his fruit in my face, dumped a box of Cheerios on the floor, and several other wonderful events.  Did I mention this all happened within an hour of waking up?  It was kind of just one of those days.
But the whole time I just kept thinking, "Well, at least I don't have a newborn to take care of right now too."  Ha!  I'm sure we will get more than our fair share of those soon.

A random shot of him staring out the window, looking at the scenery and the cars.  It's one of his favorite things to do.

He's not always a terror though ;) Sometimes he is just quite a little Momma's boy and is sweet as can be…albeit, quite a ham.

He's becoming more and more independent and a big boy every day.

Jimmie loves his mega bloks.  He had a few from his birthday and got several more for Christmas.  Now we have enough to build epic towers.
I woke up one morning to this lovely thing that Jimmie and Daddy built together.

But he's pretty good at building by himself too. (Okay, Mom helped a little on this one)

Jimmie loves all of his toys. But his favorite thing to do is dump out ever single box he can find.
This room goes from clean to tornado zone in about 20 minutes or less.
We've since gotten a bit smarter and put several boxes out of reach so at least it can be somewhat controlled.

It's awesome to have friends nearby and some places to let Jimmie go get his energy out.  After one of our doctors appointments, we met up with some friends and went to Provo's Rec center which has a giant indoor playground (Like a McDonald's Play place on steroids).
They also have a little corner with a slide for smaller kids.  We've tried it in the past and Jimmie just did not really get it.  But this last time we went he LOVED the thing.  Totally got the concept of climbing up by himself, sliding down, move out of the way for the next kid, and run right back up to the top.
He probably did it for at least an hour-1.5 hrs straight.
He had a great nap that day :)

I've been working on building up a freezer meal stash for after the baby comes.  Dinners, lunches, snacks, breakfast. Basically everything you could want.  Jimmie's been an awesome little taste tester.
On the left, we've got some little personal pot pies, and on the right, Jimmie is LOVING the bran muffins.  You just can't tell from that face.
Unfortunately I've realized, that if you start early… you eat everything before the baby comes.
I've probably eaten half of it already.  But you know… I figure it doesn't matter much whether I eat a breakfast burrito when I'm starving and exhausted now, or whether I do it after a the baby.  Haha!

We got a chance to go up to Idaho a few weekends ago.  My sister, Steph, and her family were doing a little vacation visiting family in Idaho and then driving down to northern Utah to visit some family on Marc, her husband's, side.  We figured it was far enough from the due date that we could brave one last adventure, so long as Jim came too.  So we took a nice little weekend trip up together.

It was a lot of fun to see everybody and to be able to have the help of Jim this time.
Megan playing with Jimmie's cousin, Karsten.  Karsten is 5 months younger than Jimmie.  It was fun to watch them interact with each other.

Karsten LOVED "heavy big bird".  He thought he was pretty fantastic.

Jimmie, though not scared of him, was not quite as sure.

Since Jim came, I could actually take some pictures on the drive!
This was on the way home…
though, Jim's being all "responsible" and watching the road while he drives.  Pffft, what's that all about ;)

Travel buddy.   He actually had a pretty rough trip on the way home.  Filled with lots of blood-curdling screams.

Apparently, he wanted his shirt of.  And no one would be happy until that happened.
Weirdo.

This picture is super random. But, most of you know how much I love my Shutterfly books.  I had been SO excited for the last few weeks because I'd gotten some great codes + New Years sales and ordered about $75 worth of product for only $18…shipping included.
Needless to say, I was less than thrilled when I arrived home from vacation to see that my package had come the day we left and had been rained on for the two days we were gone.  Ahh!
Thankfully, shutterfly is smarter than I am, and also wraps their books in plastic inside of the cardboard box.  Crisis averted.
So in other news, I've caught up on ordering all of my Shutterfly books!
(…Just kidding.  I've made/started on two more books since ordering these ones to catch up on my collection.  Haha!! So if you ever get any great codes or free book codes you're not going to use…send them my way!)

While we were in Idaho, Aunt Stephanie was kind enough to entertain both Karsten AND Jimmie by reading "Pete the Cat: I Love my White Shoes".  When Karsten was born, I gave them a copy of the book since I had it for Jimmie and I knew it was a popular book with kids.  So, Karsten and Jimmie have both grown up reading this book and loving it.
Jimmie hadn't read the book in quite some time though.  We just happened to throw it in the diaper bag as we were packing things up.
Seeing as they both know and love the book, I randomly decided to film it.

Apparently, despite not seeing the book probably since Thanksgiving, Jimmie remembered it well.
He had NEVER said "Oh, no!" to anything before… he barely says 4 words.
Needless to say, Jim and I were doing our best not to die of laughter as he belted it out while Steph was reading.
It's now one of his favorite things to say.  (Well, yell)

A few days ago, we stopped by McDonalds to grab lunch since we were in the middle of running errands.  We never get Happy Meals for Jimmie, but noticed that the toy was a pocket size Pete the Cat book…one that we don't have yet.  So if you're a Pete the Cat fan… swing by McDonalds!

Apparently the kid's french fries are pocket size also…. I mean, I've got decent sized hands, but really? This thing holds like 8 french fries. It cracked me up.  Some serious bang for your buck right there.

We finally got Jimmie's first hair cut.   This is probably the thing that I've been procrastinating the longest.  But it was reallllly starting to get long and both Jim and I needed hair cuts as well.  We figured this would be a really good thing to get done BEFORE we have a newborn or it, for sure, would never happen.

Though, we will just really miss that awesome bed head he had going ;)

Before shots, day of the hair cut.  He did have one rockin' mullet.

He did AWESOME while getting it cut.  Sat in the booster seat all by himself and Daddy held onto a lollipop for him to eat.  Though he may have been initially a little hesitant, he was SO good during the whole thing.  I was getting my haircut at the same time and I never even heard a peep out of him.
Afterwards, still very content, he sat on Dad's lap and let Jim get a haircut too.  What a champ.

And here's the big boy after the cut.  With a little bit of styling going on as well.

My baby doesn't look quite as much like a baby anymore.
But he sure is proud of himself!

Well, we may or may not have another post before this little baby arrives :)
