Crafting

So I didn't get pictures or the video of the apartment up before Christmas.  Tomorrow, we leave to go home to New Jersey!  It's probably because I've spent too much time trying to be crafty.  And thanks to Pinterest...I spend way too much time thinking of new ideas, borrowing new ideas, and trying out new ideas.  Here are a couple of pictures of projects I've been doing recently.

Actually, this one has nothing to do with Pinterest.  I just decided to make a couple roses out of frosting for my cake since I'd never bothered to try before.  I didn't feel like dying any frosting so I just made them out of chocolate frosting.
I think they turned out nice for my first shot :)

These are some Santas that I made with frosting, chocolate chips, and strawberries. The base idea for this came from Pinterest with personal modification.  The were probably the best thing I've had all month.

This bowl came almost directly from Pinterest.  I started out with the idea of making it into a trashcan but kinda got bored of it and decided to make it a bowl.  It is REALLY sturdy.  It's made out of pages from catalogs and other random mailings and hot glue.  All you do is fold a page into a small strip and start building.  You start with a circular base and then just start gluing them a little higher up until you're satisfied.  I put 2 little circular handles on the side.  Here are a couple shots of the finished product.

Well, that's all for now! I may spray paint the bowl to see how it looks.  We'll see!  So long folks!

And So It Begins...

So we decided to get a blog!  Let's see if I can actually keep this one updated... :) I guess I don't have the best track record.  I'm not gonna post a lot of wedding pictures for several reasons:  (1) When I added all of the pictures from the DVD to my computer...my computer freaked out and stopped working, so they had to come off.  So if you need a copy of any of the pictures--talk to Jimmie!  Moms, he's already making a copy of the DVD for you.  (2) Basically everyone who may potentially read this was at the wedding, (3) the ones I like are already on Facebook.

I WILL however post some from the honeymoon so that I can share with y'all some of the cool things we got to do.  And I'm gonna warn you.  This is kind of long, there were a lot of fun things to share!

First Up:  The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

...which was thoroughly AWESOME because every which way you turned there was another replica or display of something from the books.

The Flying Car

"Dueling Dragons" roller coaster--which I am proud to say I went on without getting sick!

These pictures are from the tour inside Hogwarts Castle.  It was REALLY cool but really hard to take pictures because it was pretty dark.  The line for it was forever long, but it was worth it.

House Points

Entrance to Dumbledore's Office

Portrait of the Fat Lady (Yes, she was interactive.  It was actually kind of creepy because we thought she was still until Jimmie said something kind of loud and she turned and looked right at him and said "Who's there? What are all these Muggles doing here!"  Pretty funny)

The Sorting Hat

We also ate lunch at the Three Broomsticks, which was actually not too long of a line and reasonably priced! My meal of the whole chicken, roasted potatoes, and corn on the cob was $10 and Jimmie's of Fish and Chips was $13

We tried the pumpkin juice... it was disgusting :) I'm quite partial to Lemonade myself

We also went to Honeydukes and Zonkos...

...where I bought a Chocolate Frog.  My Wizard Card was Godric Gryffindor

And here's us in front of the castle.  It was all pretty surreal.

We also got to go to a place called Wonder Works, which is basically a really neat place full of interesting scientific activities and fun facts museum.

Oh yeah, and the whole building is upside down :)

I found this to be really interesting.  This was a place where you could put your hand in the water and see how long you could stand the temperature that the water was when the Titanic sank.  The first time I tried, I got to 8 seconds.  The second time I only got to like 18 seconds.  Jimmie, of course, got like 35 seconds.  I think we both would have been goners.

And we got to lay on a Bed of Nails and actually understand why it works. It didn't hurt at all!

This was a really fun game, that I won--twice :)  It's interesting because in order to win you have to act opposite the way you normally would: totally calm and relaxed.  There is ball placed in the middle of a table and two people wear headbands that uses EEG technology to monitor brainwaves.  The object is to get the ball to your partner's side of the table.  It moves based on how calm you are and our games took forever.  The employee who controls the game said he rarely sees any people with such little brain activity.... what is he trying to say??  :)

The Floating Head...Creepy, eh?

We stumbled upon this on accident.  Apparently this is the largest McDonalds in the world...or one of them?  It is like not even a McDonalds.  They have like full course meals, and like Italian Food, Mexican Food, and every food you could think of.  It was like a 3 story restaurant with arcades and play room.  So strange.  We didn't eat there once we realized that regular dollar menu items were 3 times as much :)

I mean come on... what's up with this!? This is not McDonalds.

Anyway, for Thanksgiving we went to Medieval Times since we decided eating individual Cornish hens was pretty close to having a big turkey :)

We rooted for the Yellow Knight and somehow ended up with a lot of souvenirs.  Notice the yellow sash that says "Queen of Love and Beauty".  Yup, that's me! The after our knight won an event, the princess tied the sash on the end of his lance and he got to choose a lucky lady to untie it and be crowned the Queen of Love and Beauty.  And well let's be honest, I'm the obvious choice for that!

We also got to spend some awesome days in the Disney Parks.  We actually ended up not going to Epcot because we planned it for the same day as Magic Kingdom and it ended up being rainy, I was exhausted and there were only a few things we wanted to see there.  I didn't have the stamina to walk to all of the different countries.  Anyway, here are some pictures from our escapades.

Oh, and they have these free pins at Magic Kingdom for people who are celebrating all kinds of events :)

Our Holiday Ice Cream.  As you might guess, Jimmie was a little skeptical about his red and green vanilla ice cream.  But he was a good sport and ate it! My peppermint sprinkles were about the best thing I'd ever tasted.

Coincidentally, it's this man's birthday today.  Happy Birthday Walt Disney!

This was the one ride that actually kinda messed with me a bit.  But Jimmie wanted to go on it so I braved it :)

They have a show called "The American Idol Experience" and people can try out to be on it and they do it like the real show and everything.  I was personally shocked at how fun it was and how good the people were!  I thought they were so much better than most the people on that show.  The winner of each night gets a Golden Ticket to the real show and gets to cut the line and audition.

And of course it's not complete without Beauty and the Beast.  It was kind of hilarious because Jimmie, who does not watch Disney movies, did not really know what was going on.  Now he wants to watch it :)

Everest:  My new absolute favorite.

Well, we'll try to keep this as updated as we can!  We're doing well here and are excited to get this semester finished and finish getting everything moved in and organized.  It's quite the long process.  Once we finish, which will probably be after Christmas break, we'll get post up to show you our apartment.  Love you guys!
