Nala Plays Catch

I don't think I posted a video on here of Nala playing fetch, but she sure loves to! She started catching onto the whole picking up the toy and bringing it back about...maybe a month ago?  But she couldn't catch anything for her life.  Whether it was a treat being dropped or a ball thrown at her, she would just let it hit her face and then be super confused.  This last week she learned how to catch and she's doing so well at it :)

Here's a quick video for you guys:

September Fun

September has been a month of hard work and lots of fun!

It's been a little tough balancing work and school, with such an odd schedule, but it's do-able.

Jimmie started BYU-Idaho Online on Monday! He's taking a few classes this semester and will be taking more next semester.  This semester he doing a web design class where he needs to build an online business/website etc.  So, why not kill two birds with one stone?

We're building a cake business website :) And calling it the Sweet Spot Cake Shop

(Obviously that name's lengthy... It'll mainly be called the Sweet Spot, but you need a clarifying follow up in the name, right?)

Anyway, between both of our jobs, both of our schools, and building the website, we're keeping busy.

Megan is now going to school at BYU Idaho and flew out with Mom a week ago.
They only spent the evening/night here but it was great to see them!

And they finally got to quickly see where I work :)

And of course they stole my phone and took "selfies"

And of course, they got to meet and play with Nala.
I think they had some fun together :)

I realized this last week that she is getting so big!
We've had for over 2 months now, and she's growing up so fast!

Speaking of growing up fast...

Check out this little dude :)
He turned 23 on Sunday!

He wanted a LeBron James cake...and wanted it epic.
So I figured this would be a good time to experiment with tiered cakes.

Like..done correctly.  With supports for each layer (through the cakes, under the cakes), and a crumb coating (since Jimmie doesn't like the term "dirty ice").  It was a great deal of fun and educational!

Here are some snapshots of the cake.  I tried to take pictures from different angles but it's kinda hard to see things.  So I'll just kinda write what's on each layer.

Bottom: Flames to represent the Miami Heat
Middle: Miami Heat Logo, LeBron James jersey, a crown for his nickname "the king", basketball player silhouettes, the NBA Finals trophy, the Olympic Rings, and the Olympic Gold medal

We also wrote along the middle layer different titles: LeBron James: '08/'12 Olympic Gold Medalist, 3 time MVP, NBA Finals MVP, & NBA Champion

The top layer is the basketball.  Jimmie was amazed that you can just bake a cake in a mixing bowl :) He looked in the oven and was like...um do you know you have a bowl in this oven?

I tried to replicate LeBron's signature... which was a stretch.  I probably should have practiced first :) And yes, I'm aware the Happy Birthday looks sloppy... it's supposed to look like handwriting...like Lebron was wishing Jimmie a Happy Birthday?  I don't know if that came across, but that was the goal.

 Check out all those candles!!

Cutting the first piece.  And by piece I mean, Jimmie ate half of the top layer.

...and what are we to do with all of the rest of this cake? Thankfully, it fits in the fridge.

So, happy birthday to my wonderful husband and best friend :)
