8 Months, Baby!

Baby Jimmie is getting too big!!

Our little boy is 8 months old today.  He was not super happy about taking monthly pictures today.  It was also a bit difficult to take pictures because within the last few days, our little scooter/roller/backwards crawler has learned how to crawl in proper format...and fast! So, so fast!

He is crawling and trying to pull himself up on everything.  He's squatting, rolling, bouncing, kneeling... everywhere! He just likes to MOVE!
He is continuing to eat solid foods and trying a bit more of baby led weaning where he picks up solid foods on his own to eat.
He is also able to sit up like a champ.  I'm not talking "staying sitting up" but that he literally pops up off of the floor, crib, wherever he is laying, and is sitting in seconds.  It makes it difficult when he's having trouble falling asleep.  Instead of laying there and crying, he will sit up and scoot to the corner of his crib, hang his head, and cry.  It is the saddest, most pathetic thing ever.

Most up to date stats:
20.0 lbs
27.5 inches
Size 12 month clothes
His favorite actions: Waving hi & bye bye, talking on the toy phone, changing the channel
Favorite words: Ma ma ma & starting to say ba ba
Favorite foods: Apples, Yogurt mixed with anything

Attempting a smile after many tears!

A bit of a sloucher, but we got a little smile there...

"I'm getting off the chair Mommy..."

"Oh dang! You got me!"

 Love playing with this kid

 Hanging with Daddy

Lots of changes have been going on in this last month.  Though Jimmie has been teething for a while, it's become more intense in the last few days and it feels like there's one about to cut through

Jimmie is on a mission... to get every toy and everything that he shouldn't within seconds!

Earlier in the month...

 Kisses for Mommy

Not loving the cold, winter weather

Sometimes our days feel very long...

Aunt Meg came to visit over MLK weekend

Eating some sweet potato yogurt

Got my diploma in the mail!

Those eyelashes...

Smiles after work with Mommy!

 Being so silly!

 Just saying some prayers

Entertaining my parents

Just talking on the phone

Standing up (after some help) and dancing a little

Trying to get up there himself
But so far, no luck!

Moving and Shaking

I realize I haven't been getting any videos up recently and I haven't really posted anything ever since Jimmie has been moving around.  He's getting SO big! He likes to babble a lot.  A little of "ba ba ba" a LOT of "ma ma ma", but no "da da" quite yet.  For the most part, he's pretty quiet but will make noise depending on how much energy he has.

Regardless of how much he is talking, he's always moving, exploring, and getting into everything.  His favorite toys include, but are not limited to, the laptop cord, Nala's tail, and the little metal stool that goes to Mommy's craft table.

Currently, he's doing everything but standing and walking along things (thankfully!).  He is crawling, scooting, kneeling, rolling, just moving any way he can think of.  He's a little stinker, and we love how fun this stage is.

He has developed the bizarre trait of wanting to sleep sitting up.  He will not let you rock him to fall asleep, he would prefer to sit up and lay against you until he falls asleep.  Silly guy!

As much as he talks, moves, and wants to play... he is also awesome at playing quietly by himself.  I don't know how we got so lucky to have such a good little guy!

I'll add some pictures later.  I just wanted to add this quick video because some of you have been asking for a video of him crawling.  Even though I don't have a good video of him crawling, he moves like this more often.  So there you go! The little guy is growing up!

And a Happy New Year!

We've been having a lot of fun in the last few days since Christmas, just enjoying one another's company and new toys.

You know it must be good when you're this excited to wake up.

Never, ever bored.

He doesn't typically take notice of the TV, but I thought this was a funny shot.

One of my painting projects that I did with my craft table.
I made it just for fun, for Jim.
(It's the Miami Heat, if you're not familiar with the NBA)

 Ham!

 Silly pictures!

 Seriously Handsome!

These booties are awesome. They're called Zutano Booties.
They're the only thing that will stay on his feet

Just being adorable!

Trouble maker, on the move.

 But, he's a charmer!

We've been trying out some new foods...and are a bit skeptical

New Year's Eve

We just had our own little party at home.
It was a lot of fun!
Jim was originally supposed to work, but they ended up overstaffed and their servers were down, so Jim got sent home. I wasn't complaining! Turned out to be a much better evening than originally imagined.

Here's the progression of our night...as depicted by Jimmie.

 Happy, just hanging out!

Getting a little sleepy...but coping with it!

 Silly time!

Way too tired... and a bit cranky!

 Ultimately... crashed!

New Year's Eve (December 31st) was also Jimmie's 7 month birthday!

Here are some of the shots from that day.
Can't believe how big he has gotten!

New Year's Day:

Just being a little gentleman for the new year!

As such, I've decided to set some goals:

 1. Do some more reading

2.) Charm some more ladies!

3.) Conquer crawling.  And probably walking, too.

4.) Laugh a lot!

5.) Spend time with my awesome family!

Mommy and Daddy set some goals, too.

2013 has been a fantastic year! We moved, started working at the Cocoa Bean again, started working at Bluehost, passed the Praxis exam, finished BYU classes, stopped working at Cocoa Bean, completed Spring student teaching in 5th grade at 9 months pregnant, welcomed our sweet son into the world, welcomed visitors from all over the country to come and visit us, bought a new car, completed student teaching in 3rd grade for Teaching English Language Learners, completed Fall student teaching in 5th grade, submitted all final assignments and Teacher Work Sample, officially graduated from BYU, and started working as a P.E. teacher/teaching aide at Foothill Elementary.
And all of that as we got to enjoy watching our little boy grow and develop each and every day!

Here are some of those moments wrap from the last 7 months, wrapped up into one short little video:

2013 has probably been the most monumental year so far.  It has been the most challenging and the most rewarding by far.  I cannot wait to see what 2014 has in store for us.
We have been so unbelievably blessed!
