Adventures of a 9 month old!

Well, the boy is 9 months old! It snuck up on us even quicker this month since February is so short.  I have officially gotten to share him with the world for as long as I got to keep him all to myself.  Crazy!

9 months then...

It also reminded me just how long pregnancy really is and how it feels like forever.  As much as it seems like just yesterday that Jimmie was born, it also feels a world away.  So to all  of my currently pregnant friends...hang in there!! It's all worth it!

9 months now!

A few of Jimmie's favorite things to do:

-Wave at EVERYTHING!
He now will almost always wave if you ask him to "Say Hi"

-Stand up & walk along everything
Continuing to be a very mobile baby!

"Hi Mommy, wanna play?"

The other day, Jim dozed off while watching Jimmie.  After a minute of playing, Jimmie decided to crawl over to the couch, pull himself up, and yell "DADA!" in Jim's face.
Hahaha, glad he keeps us in line.

-Treat all of his toys like a telephone which he always "answers" by putting them up to his ear

-LOVES to jump.  Thank heavens for doorway jumpers!

-Loves to give kisses

-Bowling? Apparently Jimmie is a killer bowler!
My highest scores were from when he took my turn.  Hmmm...

-Chewing on anything.  Still no teeth.  Still tones of drool

-Loves getting into things that he shouldn't and putting everything in his mouth

Here are a few of his 9 month shots!
We've moved his chair out to the living room...and we realized the living room has some funky lighting

So, they look a little different this month.  That's okay!

Stylin' in his little vest...

Move over giraffe, I'm the star here!

Just hanging out

Why am I hysterical?
Dad tried to put a shirt on me.  How upsetting!

And not even the phone could console me.
And that was the end of that...

Fitting way too easily into 18 month pajamas...

Napping on the job...

In other news, they generally say "9 months on, 9 months off", referring to baby weight.  My goal was to be back to pre-pregnancy weight by 9 months.  I don't normally talk about myself on here, but I'm pretty proud of myself.  As of today, I am officially 1 lb under my pre-pregnancy weight.  In honor of my 9 month old little guy, I squeezed back into my old jeans and wore them to work.  Woohoo! Best casual Friday ever.

A Laughing Baby

Jimmie has been thinking everything is hilarious lately. And when he laughs, everyone else laughs.  There's a lot of laughter over here!  I thought I'd record a few of the weird things that he is currently thinking is hilarious.
  • Pulling himself up from a "squat" to full on standing
  • Walking along the couch
  • Giving big kisses on Mommy's cheek
  • The battery dying in his noise-making toys
  • Daddy's video game controller
  • Shoes
  • Saying "Jimmie"
  • Any kind of accent
  • Saying the word "zupa"
  • Paper and paper bags
  • Ceiling fans
  • Kicking his toys and seeing what happens

He's not laughing here, but he always loves kicking the toys.  Clearly!

I'm sure there are a million more things that I'm missing.  But those are a few that stand out right now.
He is getting bigger every day.  I can't quite handle it.  It's so fun to watch though!!
We are loving it!

Valentine's Day

I just realized that I shared some of these photos on Facebook, but never included them on my blog.  We took a few Valentine's day photos with Jimmie.  I thought they were pretty fun.

What a handsome little baby!  Best Valentine anyone could ask for!!

xoxo

February Happenings

Not too much going on over here. Valentines Day, and being sick. Here are some snapshots from the month.

Enjoying reading (eating?) Valentines Day book from Grandma and Grandpa.

Jimmies been pretty sick this month. It's hard to watch him hurt and be so sad :(
Thankfully he's on the mend, and I've actually gotten what he had over the last week. And Jim's had a cold for the last 2-3 weeks it seems.

Gotta love Valentines from little kids at school. One of my favorites said, "Dear PE Teacher, Are you glad for valentines."  Hahaha that's from a second grader.

Just folding hands, waiting for breakfast :)

Megan and Kyle were able to come visit over Presidents Day weekend. Jimmie obviously liked it, haha!

First time trying Swedish Pancakes

Being a silly goose!

Trying a cupcake!

This morning I went to shower and Jim was watching Jimmie. When I opened the bathroom door, I found Jimmie sitting in the hallway, staring at the door, just waiting for me. SO CUTE!!

He's getting so big and we are loving life! Things are well here in Provo. Couldn't ask for more.

Goodbye, Sweet Baby Girl

Today we had to say goodbye to our little (not so little) puppy, Nala.  We've had her since she was 8 weeks old.  She has always had some possessive tendencies and when she would snap at me when she was younger, before Jimmie, I thought it was just her being a puppy.  Something that she could be trained out of.  After investing in a personal trainer for her, she did better for a while.

Recently, however, her aggressive possessive tendencies have been coming back.  As Jimmie began to crawl more, this had me a little worried.  But she was always so sweet to him.  However a few weeks ago, as I went to lay Jimmie down for his nap, she had become possessive of a diaper wipe she had found and attacked my foot when I went to get it from her.  It was pretty bad, but thankfully, no permanent damage to my foot.  It's still a little sore, and I don't have full range of motion restored quite yet, but it is getting there.  At that point, we knew we had to get rid of her. We weren't about to wait around for it to happen to Jimmie.

We had intended to send Nala to my wonderful aunt, Tracey, in New Jersey.  Their family owns a farm and they have 2 Australian Shepherds as well.  This would have been a perfect fix and an ideal situation.  We were a little hesitant to send her there 1.) Because of the cost to send her, and 2.) Because even though Tracey doesn't have "little kids" she has two pre-teen age twins.  Since her attack was a pretty isolated incidence, we felt that she might be okay with the girls.  Everything was arranged, she was ready to fly on Friday.

However, while I was at work, Nala bit Jim.  She growled at Jimmie and knocked him over.  She really had just gotten out of control.  Earlier in the week, it seemed like every day we were finding out an extra hidden fee in shipping her that we hadn't realized before.  What initially was going to be a $400ish trip was starting to look closer to $600.  Today we realized, there is no way we can justify spending $600 to send her to New Jersey where she may potentially hurt more family.  I couldn't stand the thought of Nala doing anything to hurt them.  So, when I got the call from Jim about what happened, we knew we needed to get rid of her today.

We brought her to a very good, no-kill, adoption agency that we had researched previously as a fall back option.  They're wonderful at working with them and do everything they can to get them adopted. It tore my heart apart.  I've spent a better part of the night in tears, but I think it will get a little easier as the days go on.  We donated her treats and some things to the shelter.  I find solace in the fact that she has a lot of good things going for her.  She is BEAUTIFUL, she's young, she's very very smart, she loves to play, and she's so loyal.  Hopefully these things find her a great home, without kids.  She deserves great things.

Aside from remembering Nala today, one of my main reasons for this post is to let you all know.  We will all be just fine, and get on with healing.  I didn't want to have to tell the story a bunch of times and answer a bunch of questions.  Talking about her seems to be the hardest thing to do.

Thankfully a few days ago, we were able to take some pictures together since we knew she'd be leaving us.  Here are a few shots we captured.
