Fun from March: Festival of Colors and Provo Tabernacle Excavating

So I've been slacking on blog posting--so sorry!  Here are some pictures of things we did in March!

As lost of you probably saw from Facebook, we were able to go to the Festival of Colors in Spanish Fork this year! For those of you who don't know don't know what it is, it is a Hindu Festival...but the majority of people who go to the one in Spanish Fork are LDS because of the location.  Haha, oh well, it's really fun!

Here's a video of what it's like for those who are interested :)

Here are some pictures of Jimmie and I at the festival.  We didn't stay a super long time, but it was still really fun! Typically I'm the one who wants to go play in the rain, roll in the mud, or get dirty but Jimmie actually had a really wonderful time too!

Notice...there is no headband there.  That's where my headband WAS.  Getting all this color out of my hair and clothes was a lot of fun.... :) But at least I don't have BLONDE hair...many blondies had tie dye hair for several days on campus afterwards haha.

My dyed eyebrows... love it :)

Anyway--we had a great time!

Later that month...

The weather was so very nice and we decided to go out and enjoy it.
These pretty blooming trees are on our street :)

We ventured down to Center street in Provo and were walking around and noticed a small crowd forming over near the Provo Tabernacle that is still being restructured since the fire. We decided to check it out.

(Sorry, the pictures are a little hard to see--it was getting dark)
Here's what we found:

Apparently, there used to be two Tabernacles here and the first tabernacle was torn down a while ago.  They knew generally where it was, but didn't have a definitive location of where it stood since it was demolished and foundation filled.  I don't know if you can read those signs, but essentially BYU created some technology that will take the colorful underground pictures (seen above) to determine where the foundation is.

They started excavating and it was just by chance that we stumbled upon this.  Because apparently it was only gonna be there for a window of a few days before they got rid of it.  They had found all kinds of cool artifacts that I somehow forgot to take pictures of, but it was nice to be able to learn a lot of cool things from the nice lady working inside that was very knowledgeable.

Pretty cool, huh? We thought some of you may find this interesting.  It made me anxious for summer and made us want to go see some more great historical sights! Feeling very blessed that we live so close to great things like this that we can just stumble upon during an afternoon walk.  Enjoying Utah while we're here.
